Cross-Border Success Story

Paving the way for cross-border cooperation and promoting intercultural exchange – precisely this is the goal of the Bavarian-Czech friendship weeks, which are being celebrated in the border region around Selb until sometime during August 2023. The regional festival, which lasts for almost three months, features concerts, conferences, cultural events and sporting events showing the cross-border relationships which have emerged in the last three decades and how they can be enhanced.

The fruits which can be borne by a German-Czech partnership, particularly from an economic point of view, is evident in neighbouring Thierstein. The family-run company BD|SENSORS can look back on a 30 year success story which originated in the Czech Republic: In 1994, married couple Elfriede and Rainer Denndörfer together with their son, Stefan, and their Czech partners, Karel Marecek and Libor Simonik, took the plunge and established the BD|SENSORS sro company in Uherske Hradiste in South Moravia.
Right from the very start, BD|SENSORS focused on the market segment of

    „Electronic pressure measurement technology for industrial applications“

BD|SENSORS GmbH was then established in Thierstein eighteen months later. That which began with five shareholders in the Czech Republic very quickly developed into a special kind of success model. Today, the BD|SENSORS group of companies and their two sister companies, BD|SENSORS sro in the Czech Republic and BD|SENSORS GmbH in Germany and their subsidiaries in Russia and China are the recognised innovation leaders in their market segment.

The medium-sized company has not only preserved its geographical proximity to its neighbouring country, as Rainer Denndörfer explains:
“The two sister companies have always maintained an extremely close and successful cooperation. In this way, both companies develop and produce customer specific solutions and always collaborate closely with each other. I am particularly pleased that all of the founding shareholders in the Czech Republic and Germany have remained on board, and that we have not only successfully developed ourselves as a classic family-run company, but also have excellent prospects for the future.”

Furthermore, interculturalism is not only emphasised within the company group, but is also experienced on a daily basis. Since the headquarters of the company group in Thierstein is only ten kilometres from the German-Czech border, it's hardly surprising that up to 40% of the company employees come from the country next door. They work in production and also in administrative areas such as development and construction, sales and purchasing.

BD|SENSORS has therefore been fully exploiting the potential of the Bavarian-Czech border region which is currently being celebrated in the friendship weeks for decades.
