This year, two girls with an interest in technology, Hannah Neupert and Romana Wölfel, found their way to Thierstein and gained an insight into the apprenticeship of “Electronics technician for devices and systems”. They were supervised by our long-standing colleagues from the department "Sondergeraetebau" and the responsible trainer Markus Martin.
The discovery day began with a comprehensive introduction of the department, all colleagues introduced themselves and finally many details about pressure measurement and the tasks involved in the profession of electronics technician were explained. Afterwards, Romana and Hannah were allowed to get hands-on and put their dexterity to the test. Under supervision, they were allowed to assemble a circuit board with various pins and LEDs, which gave them the opportunity to gain their first experience with electronics and the necessary tools.
We were delighted to encourage their interest in technology by giving them an insight into everyday working life and introducing Hannah and Romana to the profession of electronics technician.
In general, Girls Day is a great opportunity to arouse interest in STEM professions (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and to show how exciting and diverse this professional field is.
